PRO-SEMINAR I in Organizational Leadership is a comprehensive program designed to provide me with a solid foundation in leadership principles and practices. It covers various topics such as strategic planning, organizational behavior, team dynamics, effective communication skills, as well as the effective frames used to build strong leadership in the organization. The frames highlighted here are Structural, Human Resources, Political, Symbolic, and Ethical Communities. This program has helped me engage in interactive discussions, case studies, and hands-on activities to enhance my understanding of leadership theories and their application in real-world scenarios.
For my Pro-Seminar I case analysis, I have decided to examine Foreign Affairs Auto - an organization where I hold an internal role. Specializing in the reselling of low-mileage, high-end European cars, this boutique car dealership also features a repair shop staffed with expert technicians who excel in maintaining and repairing these complex vehicles. FAA's customer demographic is primarily made up of affluent professionals and retirees who spend their winters in South Florida.
At Foreign Affairs Auto, a complex situation arose involving multiple levels of leadership and program management due to the implementation of an advanced software system that integrated all aspects of the dealership. As Bolman and Deal (2021) noted, upgrading management strategies is often seen as one of the most effective improvement approaches in situations like this. The new program was designed to replace four other programs responsible for managing various operations including repair shops, accounting functions, customer records (including website), correspondences, and human resources. Despite being complicated at first glance, the highly-effective new program promised significant benefits if properly installed implemented, and utilized well by staff across different departments. With proper utilization it promises time, savings, and effort will be saved while improving customers’ satisfaction. This capability comes with greater efficiency improved record keeping process, great value propositions. My role involves learning how best to use its capabilities both wondering what it means or when I am dazed but also overseeing organizational training components about implementing wholesome software coverage . My goal includes ensuring comprehensive roll out or the new technology, effective monitoring, and delivering it successfully according to the stakeholder standards.
